Five to seven out of ten Filipinos are confused on the real meaning of Sales and Marketing.  We hear many people, whether young or matured, would say that Sales is Marketing and Marketing is Sales. Which is which? Sales is the act of selling while Marketing develops materials and lead generation programs.

In the corporate setting, sales and marketing are two different departments, with separate specialists.  There are times that the management sees it as one but in the real context, the required skills are different.

Sales concentration is to find clients, to sell and grow the revenue of its current customers while Marketing’s task is to create, develop and deliver communication and offerings of high value for the customers, clients, partners and society at large. What keeps them on the similar track is the focus that is on people specifically the customers.
